Pastor David Koch - Biography

I was raised in a Christian home in Lincoln, Nebraska and was blessed to learn many Bible Stories from a young age in addition to hearing the gospel message many times. At the age of 10, while attending a summer camp, the reality of my sin, its awfulness and penalty, finally came home to me. I came under great conviction and received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, asking Him to forgive my sins and grant me eternal life based on His death and resurrection on my behalf.

The fruit of my conversion began to grow over those early years of faith. One major influence on my Christian walk came through a Bible Quizzing team that I participated on from 7th-10th grade. During this time I memorized entire books of the Bible for competition and the resulting foundation has born much fruit. During my junior year in high school, my family began to attend Indian Hills Community Church in Lincoln. This was the first time I was exposed to verse by verse teaching of God's Word. My love for God and the Bible, and my growth in Christ, increased greatly and I became heavily involved in the youth group. Meeting Donna in my senior year was a blessing from God I will always be thankful for. It was quickly apparent that she knew Christ and was committed to serving the Lord and growing in His Word. We married in 1987 and our marriage has grown sweeter and sweeter over the years. God has blessed us with 4 children and several grandchildren.

Prior to seminary I was on staff at Indian Hills Community Church for 8 years as an administrator where I also ministered through teaching, counseling from God’s Word, evangelizing and most other areas of Pastoral Ministry. It was during these years that my desire to minister to people grew more and more. As a result of this desire to minister and the encouragement of fellow believers regarding my giftedness, I decided to attend the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California. My theology, original language skills, and preaching were all strengthened through the teaching and example of godly professors. In addition to the formal training, God used numerous trials during seminary to test and strengthen our faith. While painful, they were needed lessons which further prepared us for the Pastoral Ministry. One of my greatest desires is to "Shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:28) and to be found faithful! I've been ministering as a pastor since I graduated in 2000, and most recently blessed to serve as the pastor at South Raleigh Bible Church since 2007.
